The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) witnessed a significant surge in new memberships, with 19.37 lakh individuals joining in June, according to newly released payroll data.
The Labour Ministry highlighted the addition of 34,762 new establishments to the ESI scheme in June 2025, broadening social security coverage for more workers. Among the new members, nearly half are young individuals up to 25 years, emphasizing a youthful workforce entry.
The data also noted the enrolment of 4.13 lakh female members and 87 transgender employees, marking a step towards inclusive social security. Given the provisional nature of the data, the figures are expected to undergo further updates as part of a continuous data generation process.
