Nvidia's founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, touched down in Taiwan on Friday for pivotal talks with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). This marks Huang's third trip to the island this year, underscoring the importance of Nvidia's partnership with the Taiwan-based chip giant.

Focus Taiwan reports that upon arrival at Taipei Songshan Airport, Huang outlined plans to meet with top TSMC executives. Their agenda will likely cover Nvidia's cutting-edge advancements, particularly in virtual reality chip technology, and forthcoming products like the Spectrum-X Phonics switches.

Huang hailed TSMC as "one of the greatest companies in the history of humanity," noting joint efforts on developing six new chips, including a CPU, GPU, and chips specialized for NVlink systems. Meanwhile, TSMC is rapidly securing significant government backing. A separate report from Focus Taiwan detailed USD 2.23 billion in subsidies from countries including the United States, Germany, Japan, and China, just in the first half of 2025.

The Taiwanese chipmaker amassed USD 4.7 billion in aid over 18 months. In the U.S., TSMC's Arizona branch is scaling up swiftly, with a USD 65 billion investment in three state-of-the-art semiconductor facilities. The first plant commenced mass production with 4-nanometer technology in late 2024, and the second is poised to produce 3-nanometer chips soon. A third location is set to feature 2-nanometer and A16 process capabilities.
