On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated three crucial metro routes in Kolkata, significantly boosting the city's public transport network. Among these is the first-ever direct connection to the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.
During the inauguration ceremony, Modi was joined by West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose, BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya, and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar.
These new lines, totaling 13.61 km, named the 'Green', 'Yellow', and 'Orange' lines, are set to ease traffic congestion and revolutionize daily commutes for millions of Kolkata residents, marking a notable development in the city's metro system that commenced in 1984.
