A tragic accident has struck a construction project in northwest China's Qinghai province, where an under-construction railway bridge collapsed, leading to the death of at least 12 workers. Four workers are still missing following the incident.

The accident occurred around 3 a.m. Friday morning, when a steel cable snapped during a tensioning operation, causing a substantial section of the bridge's curved aquamarine arch to fall. The damage has left parts of the bridge deck hanging precariously over the Yellow River.

Rescue operations are underway utilizing boats, a helicopter, and robots to locate the missing individuals. The bridge, spanning 1.6 kilometers with a deck 55 meters high above the river, remains a site of significant concern.
