Mother Dairy Slashes Prices: A Boon for Consumers with GST Benefits
Mother Dairy, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board, has reduced prices for its dairy and processed foods, effective September 22, thanks to GST cuts. This change brings products under a lower tax slab of nil or 5%, significantly benefiting consumers with more affordable prices across the board.

In a consumer-friendly move, Mother Dairy announced a significant price reduction across its dairy and processed food ranges. This adjustment, effective from September 22, comes in direct response to the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reduction. The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), has pledged to pass the entire tax benefit onto its consumers.
The price of Mother Dairy's Ultra High Temperature (UHT) milk is now Rs 75, down from Rs 77, while milkshakes have reduced to Rs 28 from Rs 30. Similarly, the price of paneer has decreased to Rs 92 from Rs 95, and butter is now Rs 58, down from Rs 62. Among other highlights, cow ghee is significantly cheaper at Rs 720, and ice cream prices have also seen noteworthy cuts.
Reflecting a uniform tax reduction for Safal, their range of frozen snacks and other categories have also reduced by as much as 7%. Managing Director Manish Bandlish states that these reductions aim to enhance consumer accessibility to high-quality, safe packaged goods. This initiative is aligned with the broader strategy to increase demand, benefiting farmers and consumers alike.
