India's formal flexi workforce is charting a remarkable growth trajectory, with projections indicating an expansion from 7.23 million in 2023 to 9.16 million by 2027. This trend reflects a paradigm shift towards flexible work arrangements outpacing traditional employment models.

A recent study, 'Indian Flexi Staffing Industry 2025: Employment Growth - Sectoral & State Analysis', unveiled that the formal flexi-staffing market is poised to hit Rs 2.20 lakh crore by FY26. This transition allows businesses to swiftly adapt to changing demands while maintaining compliance and accessing scalable talent pools.

Lohit Bhatia, President of the Indian Staffing Federation, highlighted the robust compound annual growth rate of 12.6 per cent over two years, driving the flexi workforce to penetrate 1.6 per cent of the overall workforce by FY27. This growth is buoyed by economic recovery, digital transformation, and policy reforms. Notably, India ranks third globally in flexi headcount, following China and the United States.
