In a recent assembly session, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled the Odisha government's advertising expenditure, noting a total spend of Rs 380.95 crore over the past three fiscal years.
During the 2022-23 fiscal year, the government allocated Rs 86.28 crore to advertisements. This expenditure nearly doubled in the election year 2023-24, reaching Rs 186.60 crore, Majhi reported.
The primary focus remained on newspaper advertisements, which consumed Rs 344.30 crore, with electronic media and hoardings receiving Rs 20.23 crore and Rs 16.41 crore respectively. The advertising efforts aimed to publicize various benefits available under government schemes.
