Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has unveiled a comprehensive relief package for Jammu and Kashmir, targeting over 5,000 houses damaged by floods, landslides, and rains. Chouhan pledged support through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, providing Rs 1.30 lakh per rural house to assist in rebuilding efforts.
Chouhan also addressed crop losses, ensuring compensation for approximately 7,000 insured farmers. He emphasized thorough surveys by insurance companies to prevent any discrepancies in compensations. Initiatives also extend to providing Rs 17,000 per hectare for vegetable losses and substantial compensation for livestock affected by the calamity.
Further measures include financial aid of Rs 76 crore for NGOs and rural women self-help groups, enhancing MGNREGA workdays to 150, and immediate fund transfers under the Prime Minister Nidhi Yojana. The announcement represents a concerted effort to rebuild and support the resilience of J&K's rural communities.
