The Nagaland Directorate of Economics and Statistics has released the 2025 Survey Report, highlighting stark income disparities, limited technical skills, and persistent unemployment across the region. The report, unveiled by Advisor H. Sethrongkyu Sangtam, lays bare the economic challenges the state faces.
Key findings include the Labour Force Participation Rate at 56 percent and an employment rate of 83.92 percent. District-wise, Mon has the highest employment, while Phek suffers from the highest unemployment levels. Moreover, 92 percent of residents lack technical education, emphasizing the skill gap in the workforce.
The survey, conducted in early 2025, involved 4,395 households and uncovered significant migration from rural to urban areas due to employment and other opportunities, although many earn below Rs 20,000 after relocation. The report underscores the need for evidence-based policies to bridge gaps in development and employment.
