Traders across Delhi are largely supportive of the newly introduced GST rate cuts announced on Monday, viewing them as a significant relief for consumers ahead of the festive season. These rate changes, endorsed by the GST Council, include lowering taxes on 375 goods and services, effective from September 22, coinciding with the start of Navaratri.

The new policy reduces GST on essential goods to 5 percent or exempts it entirely, providing relief for life-saving drugs and farming supplies. However, concerns about the refund process and its impact on traders' capital were vocalized by industry leaders such as Rakesh Kumar Yadav of the Federation of Sadar Bazar Trades Association.

Amit Gupta of the New Delhi Traders Association hailed the move as a boon for both traders and consumers, while Sanjiv Mehra of Khan Market Traders Association noted ongoing implementation questions. Delhi's leadership, including Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Development Minister Kapil Mishra, have engaged with markets to promote local goods and drive self-reliance in the economy.
