Tamil Nadu Bonuses: A Boost for Public Sector Workers

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin declared new bonus and ex gratia packages for public sector workers categorized as 'C' and 'D' on Monday. The decision, aimed at enhancing employee benefits, came as part of the 2024-25 policy adjustments.
The latest regulations amend the Bonus Act of 2015, raising the salary ceiling for eligibility and calculation. Key beneficiaries include workers at profitable enterprises like the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation and Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations, who will receive an 8.33% bonus plus an 11.67% ex gratia.
For enterprises without an allocable surplus, a modified bonus structure will be applied. Overall, this new policy requires a disbursement of Rs 376.01 crore, impacting 2,69,439 eligible workers across various sectors in Tamil Nadu's public enterprises.
