Skoda Auto India, part of the Volkswagen group, is strategizing to make its mark in the Indian electric car market by the years 2027-28, as confirmed by an official on Wednesday. The automaker's entry plan involves setting up a localized supplier base to support their operations.
According to Ashis Gupta, brand director of Skoda Auto India, the electric vehicle industry is rapidly evolving, accounting for 10-12% of the total segment. Skoda aims to leverage this growth by positioning their premium electric cars by 2027-28, aligning with favorable policy frameworks anticipated by that time.
The company currently offers four models in India, including the Kylaq, Slavia, Kushaq, and Kodiac, boasting a market share of 1.7%. With significant sales figures from January to September 2025, the company plans to expand its customer network from 315 to 350 touchpoints, focusing on Tier 2 and 3 cities.
