Since September 2022, the Mizoram government has issued BH (Bharat) series registration numbers to 139 applicants, according to state transport department officials.

The BH series, a pan-India vehicle registration initiative launched by the Centre in August 2021, became operational on September 15 of the same year. In Mizoram, the first BH series number was issued on September 1, 2022, and has since been assigned to 139 vehicles.

The registration numbers are primarily intended for government and private sector employees who frequently travel to different states across India. Eligibility criteria, aligned with Rule 47 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, restrict issuance to central and state government employees, defence personnel, and private sector employees with offices having more than five branches nationwide. Recent regulatory amendments now allow only one BH series number per person.
