Indian Railways: Transformative Changes Underway
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlights the transformation of the Indian Railways under the NDA government, with extensive track electrification, station development, and annual recruitment for the Railway Protection Force. The modernization includes the introduction of new trains and the adoption of advanced safety systems like Kavach to enhance rail safety.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced significant advancements in the Indian Railways, marking a departure from decades of neglect. Speaking at the 41st Raising Day of the Railway Protection Force in Gujarat, Vaishnaw highlighted improvements including annual recruitment for the RPF and the installation of the Kavach safety system.
In a bid to modernize and expand, nearly 35,000 kilometers of tracks have been laid in the past 11 years, along with the electrification of 60,000 kilometers of railway lines. Redevelopment projects are underway for 1,300 stations, with 110 stations already completed.
The minister also revealed plans for mass production of Namo Bharat and EMU trains to meet demand. This infrastructural boost aims to enhance services for all socio-economic groups while strengthening the cadre management of railway staff.
