Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij has called for a sweeping inquiry into alleged large-scale irregularities in vehicle registrations across Ambala district's Sub-Divisional offices. Officials disclosed on Wednesday that Vij's orders for a thorough probe cover both Sub-Divisional and Regional Transport Offices, supervised by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Suspecting wider discrepancies beyond Ambala, the transport minister has tasked additional chief secretaries from the revenue and transport departments with coordinating the investigations. Reports indicate vehicle registrations were processed in Ambala using incomplete addresses from Tamil Nadu and other states, triggering the probe.
Moreover, Vij has mandated the proper covering of vehicles transporting loose construction materials to curb environmental violations. He urged compliance with the Stage Carriage Scheme-2016 and vowed zero tolerance for unauthorized heavy vehicle entry into cities, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance safety.
