Smoke and sparks emanating from a coach wheel of the Charminar Express forced an emergency halt at Aler Railway Station in Telangana, officials of the South Central Railway (SCR) reported on Sunday.
According to SCR, the incident, attributed to a 'brake binding' issue, occurred on April 25th as the train was en route from Hyderabad to Tambaram. During the journey, smoke and sparks were noticed, prompting immediate action from railway staff to extinguish them.
Brake binding occurs when brake pads stick to the wheels and fail to release, causing drag, smoke, sparks, and sometimes damage. Fortunately, the Charminar Express suffered no casualties or damage and continued to its destination shortly after resolving the issue.
