Delhi Traffic Crackdown: Over 11,800 Motorists Penalised in Major Safety Push

The Delhi Traffic Police penalized more than 11,800 motorists in a concentrated three-hour enforcement operation aimed at tackling improper parking and wrong-side driving violations. The initiative occurred on Saturday across all traffic ranges and districts, highlighting efforts to reduce congestion and improve safety on Delhi's roads.
According to officials, over 8,500 motorists were cited for improper or obstructive parking, with vehicles parked in unauthorized zones such as busy roads, footpaths, and market areas being towed to clear the way for smoother traffic movement. Meanwhile, over 3,500 drivers faced prosecution for the hazardous wrong-side driving offense.
Special teams targeted accident-prone areas and regions with a high frequency of violations, ensuring comprehensive coverage that spanned all vehicle categories, including two-wheelers and commercial transport. Vijayanta Goyal Arya, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), emphasized the risks these violations pose to public safety and confirmed the continuation of such enforcement and awareness campaigns.
