New Horizons: India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement Paves Path for Economic Boom
India and New Zealand are set to sign a free trade agreement, expanding opportunities for Indian industries, particularly in leather exports. This pact is expected to double bilateral trade and offer duty-free market access. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the potential for increased investment and economic collaboration.
India is on the cusp of a significant economic milestone as it prepares to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with New Zealand on April 27. Slated to provide a major boost to domestic businesses, the agreement promises substantial benefits for Indian exporters, notably the leather industry from Agra.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, alongside New Zealand's Trade and Investment Minister Todd McClay, engaged with business leaders across various sectors to discuss the potential impact of the FTA. Goyal emphasized the agreement's capacity to double bilateral trade and facilitate investments of USD 20 billion over the next 15 years.
The agreement will allow duty-free exports from India to New Zealand, particularly benefiting Agra's renowned leather industry. This economic partnership is poised to transform Agra into a global footwear hub. In a bid to celebrate and promote local artisans, the 'Agra: World Capital of Footwear' campaign was launched at the event.
