SkyHop Aviation, a new venture helmed by Avani Singh, the daughter of SpiceJet's Chairman Ajay Singh, announced the receipt of a pivotal air operator certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This marks a significant step towards the company's imminent foray into commercial seaplane services.
The aviation startup has already successfully conducted test flights, which included water take-offs and landings at notable locations such as the Ganga Barrage and Tehri Lake in Uttarakhand. These trials pave the way for full-scale operations as SkyHop prepares to connect the Lakshadweep islands using a 19-seater aircraft.
By bridging the islands with mainland India in its first phase, SkyHop Aviation is poised to revolutionize regional connectivity. The service will start with five island connections, enhancing both travel convenience and tourism in the region.
