Bengaluru's Soaring Skies: KIA Sets Record Passenger Growth
Kempegowda International Airport reported 44.47 million passengers and significant cargo growth for 2025–26, fueled by international traffic and increasing transfer activity. This rise highlights Bengaluru's growing status as a global business hub, overcoming geopolitical challenges with robust domestic and international travel demand.
Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) reached new heights in 2025-26 by accommodating 44.47 million passengers and handling substantial cargo volumes, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) announced on Thursday.
The growth was primarily propelled by a 23.9% increase in international passenger traffic, tallying 7.23 million passengers. Domestic passenger numbers grew by 3.3% to 37.24 million, bringing the airport's total year-on-year passenger traffic up by 6.2%.
KIA's thriving status is reinforced by a 22% climb in transfer traffic, which now accounts for 15.7% of the passenger volume. Although domestic transfers grew by 3.2%, international transfers soared over 50%, highlighting Bengaluru's position as a crucial nexus in global travel.
