Record GST Collection in April Highlights Import-Led Growth
Gross GST collection increased by 8.7% in April, reaching Rs 2.43 lakh crore, driven mainly by a significant rise in import-led revenues. Domestic transactions grew modestly by 4.3%. The GST 2.0 policy adjustments support a maturing framework, providing steady growth amidst global uncertainties.
In April, the gross GST collection saw an 8.7% increase, hitting a record of Rs 2.43 lakh crore, according to government data released on Friday.
The boost was primarily due to a substantial 25.8% growth in import-led revenues, which outstripped the 4.3% growth in domestic transactions.
This consistent growth follows the GST 2.0 policy adjustments, suggesting an evolution towards a more mature GST framework despite global geopolitical challenges.
