A devastating explosion rocked a fireworks factory in Hunan, China, claiming 21 lives and injuring 61 others, authorities confirmed on Tuesday. The catastrophic event unfolded on Monday afternoon at the Huasheng fireworks facility in Liuyang, a city within Changsha's administrative region.

Dramatic footage circulating online reveals extensive destruction spanning several kilometers. In response, over 480 rescuers mobilized into five teams, complemented by three cutting-edge rescue robots, have been actively engaged in relief efforts. The injured victims are receiving urgent medical attention as a subsequent search mission continues.

Given the factory's proximity to two black powder warehouses, precautionary evacuations were promptly executed, and a protective buffer zone was established as a preventative measure against potential subsequent explosions, reported Xinhua news agency. High-level investigations, including expert guidance from the Ministry of Emergency Management, are underway with the company's head already detained by police.
