Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has taken decisive action by suspending fuel supply to two petrol stations in Latur district of Maharashtra. This follows viral footage that exposed the sale of petrol and diesel in unauthorized containers such as cans and barrels.
The District Collector, Dr Bharat Bastewad, issued the directive after receiving complaints and concerns regarding public safety posed by these practices. HPCL complied with the order and ceased supplying fuel to the implicated stations, pending a thorough investigation.
The district administration had already mandated stringent bans on selling fuel in loose containers, emphasizing safety risks. HPCL's measures adhere to Marketing Discipline Guidelines, indicating potential legal repercussions for the involved parties.
