A tragic accident occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district early Wednesday morning, claiming one life and injuring six others. A speeding truck collided head-on with a bus at around 5:30 am near a diversion at Patheria, police reported.
The bus, traveling from Tamkuhi to Gorakhpur, was carrying passengers who suffered serious injuries, including Satish Sharma (30), who later died. His brother, Vijay Sharma (25), remains critically injured, according to officials. Other injured passengers were identified as Meera Devi, Roshan Tara, Manoj Kumar, Rampali Devi, and conductor Veer Bahadur. Locals were quick to the scene, aiding in the rescue of trapped individuals before emergency services arrived.
Traffic was disrupted following the collision but resumed promptly after police intervention. The officers stated that further legal action will be initiated once a formal complaint is lodged. Meanwhile, critically injured passengers have been referred to Kushinagar Medical College for specialized treatment.
