In a significant economic maneuver, US President Donald Trump declared on Monday the suspension of the federal gas tax, attributing the decision to rising fuel prices resulting from ongoing tensions with Iran.
When prompted about the potential duration of this suspension, Trump responded with assurance, stating it would last 'until it's appropriate.'
Intended to alleviate immediate economic pressures on consumers, the federal gas tax stands at 18.4 cents per gallon for gasoline and 24.4 cents for diesel, according to the US Energy Information Administration.
