Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has emphasized the importance of self-reliance for the Indian industry amidst ongoing global challenges. Addressing CII's annual business meeting, he stated that current global issues, including disruptions from the war in West Asia, should encourage India to enhance its productivity and reduce its dependence on imports.
Goyal stressed the significance of embracing electric vehicles and artificial intelligence to bolster the domestic economy. He noted that while the global scenario poses threats, it also offers India a unique chance to outshine other nations by becoming more efficient and self-reliant, drawing attention to the country's historical resilience during crises.
The minister called for industry collaboration, stressing the need to support each other like business communities in Japan and South Korea. He urged industries to transition from 'assembled in India' to 'designed and manufactured in India,' highlighting the potential of exports from global capability centers operating within the country.
