In a significant development, Project Himank's snow clearance team reopened the critical National Highway-3 up to Sarchu on Tuesday, restoring vital connectivity between Ladakh and mainland India.
Led by the 111 Road Construction Company under the 753 Border Roads Task Force, the operation began on March 16 and involved the removal of substantial snow accumulations and widening the highway to double-lane standards. The team faced treacherous conditions, including extreme altitudes and avalanche-prone areas like the Tanglang La and Lachung La passes.
Comprehensive safety protocols and advanced machinery ensured successful completion, significantly improving traffic and logistics for both civilians and defense convoys.
