Two people, including a woman, were killed and another seriously injured after their car rammed into a parked truck on the Pinna bypass here on Tuesday, police said.
The accident took place near the Charthawal cut under the Kotwali police station area in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar said the victims were travelling from Shamli district to Meerut when their car collided with the rear of a parked truck.
The impact of the collision triggered a fire in the car, he said.
The deceased were identified as Nazim (35) and Ravita (30), while another woman, Najjo, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Police said the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.
