A tanker called the Olympic Life reported an external explosion on its port side, 60 nautical miles from Oman's capital, on Tuesday. The blast occurred close to the waterline, triggering an immediate alert.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed that the tanker experienced a fuel leak, although the crew were unharmed. Despite being hit by an unidentified object, according to Springfield Shipping, the vessel remains operational, and the spill is now contained.
The Greek-owned tanker, sailing out of the Gulf of Oman, belongs to Olympic Shipping & Management. The company, founded by the late Aristotle Onassis, faced an unexpected maritime incident but reported that the impact was under control.
