Haryana is set to introduce measures aimed at supporting gig workers with social security provisions. Officials intend to launch a comprehensive campaign to register these workers, ensuring they are informed about the government’s welfare initiatives.
The Haryana Chief Minister reviewed the Labour Department's future plans under 'Haryana Vision 2047', emphasizing the importance of supporting the unorganised sector and boosting female workforce participation. He announced budget allocations to assist gig workers and additional schemes from the central government.
Labour Department Principal Secretary Rajeev Ranjan revealed that 21,777 gig workers are currently registered, with substantial numbers yet to join. More than 30 welfare schemes and specific infrastructure for women, like hostels and creches, are being prepared.
