DHL Partners with USPS for $10 Billion Parcel Deal
The U.S. Postal Service has established a multi-year agreement with DHL eCommerce for last-mile parcel delivery services valued over $10 billion. This partnership allows DHL to expand in the U.S. and aids the financially troubled USPS in maintaining operations.
The U.S. Postal Service announced a significant multi-year agreement with DHL eCommerce on Thursday for last-mile parcel delivery services within the United States. This deal, anticipated to be worth more than $10 billion, aims to boost DHL's presence in the U.S. market over the coming years.
Postmaster General David Steiner emphasized the unparalleled reach of USPS, which covers 170 million U.S. households six days a week, providing DHL with access to the world's largest delivery market. Steiner explained that DHL needed to either invest heavily to establish an end-to-end network or collaborate with a partner like USPS that already had such a capability.
DHL eCommerce Americas CEO Scott Ashbaugh stated that the agreement will support the company's growth in the United States and enable it to handle slightly heavier parcels. Ashbaugh projected that this collaboration could lead to the doubling of DHL's U.S. business by 2030. The deal is crucial for the USPS, which faces financial difficulties and has warned of potential cash shortages by February.
