Despite a drop, IIT Bombay remains a global leader, holding the 129th position. The annual QS World University Rankings, generated by Quacquarelli Symonds, evaluate universities worldwide on parameters like academic reputation and international student diversity.
With eight new institutions entering the rankings, India now boasts 54 ranked universities, trailing only the US, UK, and China. The rise underscores India's expanding global educational influence, with a remarkable increase from 11 ranked universities a decade ago to 54 today.
