The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued a stay on retesting NEET-UG candidates who faced power outages during exams at Indore and Ujjain centers. Judges Vivek Rusia and Binod Kumar Dwivedi delivered the decision following arguments presented by involved parties, responding to the National Examination Agency's appeal.

The NTA's appeal challenged a June 23 order from a single bench that mandated a retest for affected candidates, asserting they were disadvantaged due to no fault of their own. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta requested an interim stay, which was granted, with the next hearing scheduled for July 10.

The power disruptions reportedly lasted 10-15 minutes, and NTA argued they did not impact candidate performance significantly. However, petitioners claimed adverse effects on their exam performance and sought a retest. The court emphasized that candidates at disrupted centers should not be penalized for circumstances beyond their control.
