The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has addressed concerns by confirming that references to regional resistance movements have not been omitted from the new class 8 Social Science textbook.
Recently, reports surfaced alleging that the textbook titled 'Exploring Society: India and Beyond' had removed mention of these significant movements. However, NCERT clarified that the current release is only the first volume.
The forthcoming second volume, expected to be out by September or October 2025, will cover topics related to various regional uprisings such as the Paika rebellion in Odisha and the Kuka movement in Punjab.
