Tripura University is gearing up to introduce biometric attendance for a broader spectrum of its staff, aiming to instill stronger discipline across the institution. Starting July 31, the system will be gradually implemented, eventually encompassing all teaching personnel and senior officers by October 31. The initiative represents a significant extension of a previously limited program that was restricted to Group B and C staff.

A notification released by Muneendra Mishra, the university's deputy registrar, confirmed the Executive Council's decision, taken during its 45th meeting on June 1, 2025, to expand biometric attendance to include assistant and associate professors, as well as contractual teachers and faculty. Senior officers such as registrars and librarians fall into Group A, which will also adhere to this new attendance regulation.

Staff are encouraged to register their details, including mobile numbers and Aadhaar cards, to facilitate easy onboarding into the system. The university officials assert that the biometric attendance system will promote much-needed discipline and accountability among the institution's academic and administrative workforce.
