Sindhu Central University (SCU) in Ladakh hosted its inaugural convocation, marking a significant milestone with the graduation of 14 students. This event, attended by Chief Secretary Pawan Kotwal and university executive members, underscores SCU's mission to cultivate future leaders through interdisciplinary education.

Established under the Central Universities (Amendment) Act, 2021, with its foundation stone laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, SCU is emerging as a hub for non-conventional learning. The university is envisioned as a center for achieving India's Sustainable Development Goals. Director of IIT Madras, V Kamakoti, highlighted the progress of SCU and its partnerships with institutions like IIT Madras as its mentors.

With a transit campus now operational in Ladakh, SCU is set to become fully functional by 2028, offering specialized programmes in Energy Technology, Atmospheric Science, Public Policy, and Buddhist Studies. The initiative not only provides academic opportunities but also instills a sense of purpose and sustainability among its students.
