In a significant boost to education in Nagaland, ten schools have been selected for development under the Prime Minister's Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme. The Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, announced this in New Delhi during the celebration of the National Education Policy 2020's fifth anniversary.
This initiative aims at transforming existing government schools into centers of excellence while enhancing educational access for tribal students. One school in each of Nagaland's ten districts has been chosen for the scheme's effective implementation, striving to model the nationwide network of 14,500 PM SHRI schools.
Apart from the schools, 23 new hostels will be established under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan to support tribal students further. This holistic program will aid in reducing school dropouts and provide safe, residential facilities, enhancing access to education for students from remote areas.
