Members of the Samajwadi Party voiced strong objections in the Lok Sabha against the Uttar Pradesh government's recent education policies. They accused the state administration of undermining the education rights of Dalits and impoverished children by closing and merging hundreds of state-run schools while simultaneously opening liquor shops in every village.

During the Zero Hour, Dharmendra Yadav of the SP highlighted the state's alleged autocratic approach amidst India's 75th Independence celebrations. He pointed out that despite the Right to Education law, approximately 1.26 lakh schools are being shuttered and 5,000 are merging, alongside a halt in recruiting over 2 lakh teachers.

Neeraj Maurya and Naresh Chandra Patel, fellow SP members, echoed these sentiments, decrying the condition of government schools in Uttar Pradesh and questioning the priorities of the current administration. They urged the government to open more Kendriya and Navodaya Vidyalayas instead of cutting access to existing schools.
