The University of Delhi has announced a significant change to its Undergraduate Curriculum Framework 2022, providing students more flexibility in selecting minor disciplines by discarding the need for specific generic elective papers.
According to a notification issued on Tuesday, students pursuing a discipline as a minor for postgraduate admissions will no longer need to opt for particular generic elective papers. This move supersedes all previous mandates that made it compulsory for students to follow a structured list of electives to qualify a subject as a minor.
The university initially enforced this requirement to maintain academic standards. However, admissions now proceed via the Common University Entrance Test, assessing students independently. Consequently, students are free to choose any generic elective from their department's offerings while remaining eligible for postgraduate study.
