A rain holiday declared by the district collector on Wednesday averted a potential disaster when a ceiling caved in at Kodali Government Lower Primary School in this central district.
The collapse of the gypsum board ceiling in the main hall raised alarms. Fortunately, no injuries occurred since the school was closed due to the declared holiday, officials reported.
Protests by parents, residents, and political party members erupted, condemning alleged corruption and shoddy construction practices. Demonstrators blocked officials from the construction firm responsible for the hall, which was built just two years ago using MLA funds.
