A 20-year-old student from BITS Pilani's Goa campus was found dead in his hostel room, police reported on Sunday. The student, Kushagra Jain, was discovered unresponsive in bed at the Vasco campus in South Goa district around 11 a.m. on Saturday, according to a senior police official.

An unnatural death case was registered at Verna police station, pending a postmortem to ascertain the cause of death. Police sources indicated that Jain played table tennis the previous night before returning to his room.

The locked room prompted authorities to intervene when there was no response the next morning, leading to the discovery. A BITS Pilani statement expressed deep sorrow over the student's passing, extending condolences to Jain's family and friends.
