Room to Read India has kicked off its seventh annual 'India Gets Reading' initiative, centered around the theme 'My Book, My Story'. The program aims to promote early learning among Indian children by reaching over 40 lakh participants this year.
State-wide activations in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh will foster a love for reading, with activities including a ten-day Pledge Reading Time, a Read-a-thon, and mobile libraries.
The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 and the NIPUN Bharat Mission, focusing on foundational literacy. It emphasizes creating inclusive learning environments that reflect children's realities, ensuring every child can read with dignity and agency.
