In a significant move, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a Rs 600-crore initiative aimed at bolstering skill education in the state, in collaboration with the Tata group's Nelco.
Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Sarma revealed that the project will see Nelco and the state government co-funding the creation of 50 educational hubs and 500 spokes. These institutions will provide advanced training through satellite communication, with the first phase establishing 10 hubs and 70 smaller spokes.
The cabinet also approved the naming of a flyover as 'Maharaj Prithu Flyover', and endorsed PMAY-G sanction letter distribution to over 3 lakh beneficiaries. Additionally, Assam expressed gratitude for the planned Indian Institute of Management in Guwahati, marking a new era in regional education and development.
