Spelling Error on Cheque Sparks Controversy in Sirmaur School

A teacher at a government school in Sirmaur district faced suspension following the viral circulation of a cheque he issued, filled with glaring spelling mistakes, on social media. The Directorate of School Education took the step to address heightened concerns over educational standards in public schools.

The cheque, amounting to Rs 7,616 and dated September 25, transformed into a source of mockery due to its erroneous spelling presentation as 'Saven Thursday Six Harendra Sixtey'. This led the Directorate to demand a comprehensive explanation from both the school principal and the teacher in question. Both were summoned to appear before Director Ashish Kohli on Saturday.

Atter Singh, the drawing teacher responsible for the cheque, admitted his mistake, attributing it to an oversight. However, Director Kohli did not accept this laxness, emphasizing that negligence affecting the department's image would result in strict disciplinary measures. Consequently, disciplinary actions under the Central Civil Services Rules have been initiated to ensure adherence to high standards of document accuracy and responsibility.
