In a distressing turn of events, a 21-year-old B.Tech student from NIT Uttarakhand has gone missing in the Alaknanda river. Officials have identified the student as Anand Mohan, a promising third-year scholar hailing from Hyderabad.

The incident took place on Sunday around 4 pm near the NIT grounds, where Mohan was reportedly enjoying an afternoon near the river with three friends. According to his companions, the young man jumped into the river from a small elevation but tragically vanished beneath the waters.

Rescue operations were promptly launched by local authorities, including the Srinagar police station, SDRF, and Water Police. Despite thorough searches lasting late into the evening, Mohan remains unaccounted for. The search is set to resume early Monday morning as darkness had previously forced teams to pause their efforts.
