In an exceptional story of resilience and determination, 19-year-old Sarah Moin from Lucknow has emerged as a standout academic achiever against formidable odds. Affected by both visual and hearing impairments along with a rare condition called sarcoidosis, Sarah excelled in the ISC Class 12 examinations, securing 98.75% in her best of four subjects.
Living in the Hussain Ganj area, Sarah achieved perfect scores in Geography and Mass Media, 98 in English, 97 in History, and 96 in Psychology, supported by Christ Church College's inclusive teaching environment. She relies on assistive technologies, like a braille display and Orbit Reader, to access educational material, echoing the triumph of Helen Keller, whom she's often compared to.
Despite her scholastic achievements, Sarah faces significant challenges in competitive exams due to insufficient accessibility provisions. Her father appeals for policy changes allowing the use of assistive devices during exams, emphasizing that scribes cannot fully convey Sarah's responses. With dreams of becoming an IAS officer, Sarah continues to inspire with her educational tenacity.
