The Aligarh Muslim University Teachers' Association (AMUTA) has voiced its alarm over rising security concerns on campus. Faculty members are reportedly feeling threatened by certain students' unruly and intimidating behavior, notably highlighted by incidents at the university's Women's College.
AMUTA secretary Ashraf Mateen has labeled this as a serious systemic failure, pointing to instances of harassment suffered by female teaching staff by some male students in connection with attendance disputes. Further worry was expressed regarding reports of misconduct towards female students by disruptive student factions.
In response to the allegations, the university's administration, led by AMU Proctor Naved Khan, has taken action by suspending several students involved and is looking into other related complaints. Authorities reaffirm their commitment to resolving the issues highlighted by AMUTA.
