Maharashtra Cabinet Boosts Tribal Education and Engineering Opportunities

The Maharashtra cabinet has taken decisive steps to enhance educational opportunities across the state. In its latest meeting, the cabinet approved the upgradation of 24 ashram schools run by voluntary organizations to bolster educational access for tribal students. This move will elevate five primary and 19 secondary schools to their subsequent educational stages, from primary to secondary and secondary to junior college. Additional resources, including teachers and infrastructure, have also been sanctioned.

Further aiming to expand higher education prospects, the cabinet authorized the introduction of three degree-level engineering courses at the Government Polytechnic in Solapur. Starting from the academic year 2026-27, these courses will cater to 180 students in total and will focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Computer Science and Engineering, as well as Electronics and Telecommunication.

In a related decision, the management of Shri Tuljabhavani Engineering College in Tuljapur will be handed over to the Maharashtra government from the Shri Tuljabhavani Temple Trust. This transition aims to enhance the college's resources and infrastructure, ensuring a higher quality of engineering education in Dharashiv district.
