Congress Calls for Overhaul of NEET and NTA Amid Seat Auction Allegations

The Congress party on Thursday called for the immediate dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA) while demanding the dismissal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The party alleged that there has been a massive 'auction' of seats in the NEET examination, likening the situation to the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh.

During a press conference, Congress spokesperson Alok Sharma criticized the NTA, labeling it a 'private NGO' instead of a credible governmental body. These accusations come in the wake of the NTA's cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam due to allegations of paper leaks and irregularities.

In response to the scandal, the Congress has called for a Supreme Court-monitored investigation and the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee. Among other demands is a comprehensive forensic audit of the NTA to ensure transparency in examination fees collected from students.
