Amidst the ongoing controversy over the cancellation of the NEET exams, Congress has launched a scathing critique of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's competence in handling the situation. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has called for a critical review of exams, instead of flashy publicity events by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ramesh has condemned the current state of the education ecosystem, accusing it of incompetence and corruption. He noted various crises, including the UGC draft regulations and NAAC bribery scandals, underlining the Education Ministry's perceived shortcomings. Ramesh pointed out the Education Minister's refusal to act on the Parliamentary Committee's recommendations, highlighting his dismissal of advice even from his own party members.
In response, Education Minister Pradhan announced the rescheduling of the NEET-UG re-examination for June 21, with future exams set to be computerized to prevent further irregularities. Pradhan emphasized the government's commitment to student welfare and assured strict adherence to guidelines to avoid misconduct in the examination process. Transport arrangements have been coordinated with state governments to facilitate student access.
